Basic Work From Home Stretches To Help Prevent and or Alleviate Back Pain

With more and more people continuing to work from home, we may find ourselves not moving around as much as we should be. Watch this video and listen to Dr. Kennedy discuss basic stretches that you can do right from your home!

While working from home as compared to working at the office setting, most people are finding right now that they do not get up and change their positions as often walking around the office, coffee machines, visiting with co-workers. So there are some stretches that you can do while working. And pretty basic, they don't take long. And one that you can do while working is just rotational stretches of the cervical spine. You can do it standing, you can do it sitting also while you're sitting and or standing, you can also try to alleviate some of the stress in the neck and upper back and shoulder regions by taking deep breaths, three to four of them. When you breathe in, hold the shoulders up and when you blow out, drop the shoulders down and do that several times can also pull in the arms across the body again, standing or sitting, holding for five to 10 seconds, stretching out the upper back, shoulders. You can also, while in the standing position, try to stretch out the pec muscles and chest, grasping the hands behind the back and elevating slightly again, holding five to 10 seconds. Also, while sitting in front of the computer, there's another technique called 20, 20, 20 to try to take some of the stress off the eyes. And the rule of thumb is for every 20 minutes of screen time, take 20 seconds and focus on some object probably 20 feet away, and you will find that alleviating some of the stress of the eyes.
